]]>

Samsung needed a change and went back to the drawing board, building the new flagship from scratch. And the result was outstanding, as the Galaxy S6 was well-received and the fans were amazed how this device is functioning, how fast it is, but they were a little bit disappointed by the high price. Asus, on the other hand, came with an affordable phone, a phablet that supports 4GB of RAM. Here’s a comparison between these two devices.

Designs, dimensions and displays

The Galaxy S6 is nothing like the previous model, which was criticized for the dotted pattern which made it look cheap. The new phone is stylish and uses metal and glass, it’s much thinner compared to the Galaxy S5, measuring 6.8mm, it weights 138grams and it comes in color options of White Pearl, Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire and Blue Topaz. The Galaxy S6 lost the water and dust protection, but it improved the fingerprint sensor and now the users can make online payments using the Samsung Pay system. The screen has the same dimension of 5.1inches, but its resolution was increased up to 1440×2560 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 577ppi. The Super AMOLED screens are famous for the vibrant images, but which are eating a lot of battery.

The Zenfone is much bigger at 5.5inches, it uses an IPS screen that supports 1080×1920 pixels at 403ppi, its thickness is 10.9mm and it weights 170 grams. It has a brushed metal finish like the LG G3, and the power and volume buttons are also located below the rear camera. Nothing original about this phone, but at least it looks nice.

Hardware

Samsung developed its own chipset, Exynos, which has been improved with each new model. The Galaxy S6 is powered by the new 64bit Exynos 7420 octa-core processor consisting of two quad core processors clocked at 1.5GHz and 2.1GHz, which are backed by 3GB of DDR4 RAM. The device has three variants of internal memories and their capacities are 32, 64 and 128GB, but there’s no room for expansion.

The Zenfone has 4GB of DDR3 RAM coupled with a quad core Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, while the other variant uses a quad core Intel Atom Z3560 processor running at 1.8GHz, which is backed by 2GB of RAM. It has also three variants of internal storage, 16 and 32GB, which are expandable up to 64GB, and the third variant is fixed at 64GB.

The Zenfone 2 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, while the Galaxy S6 can be upgraded to 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Cameras

The rear camera on the Galaxy S6 is worth praising, having a resolution on 16MP, LED flash, OIS and a wide f/1.9 aperture, while the front camera is 5MP with f/1.9 aperture and 120-degree wide-angle.

The Zenfone 2 has a 13MP camera with dual-LED flash and HDR, but its features aren’t spectacular. The front camera is also 5MP.

Batteries

Both batteries are non-removable, but the Zenfone comes with a bigger unit of 3000mAh, while the 2500mAh battery from the Galaxy S6 can last an entire day under normal usage. However, it comes with built-in wireless charging and in ten minutes, it extends the battery life by up to 4 hours.

Prices

The Zenfone 2 with 4GB of RAM costs around 300 dollars in the US, while the Galaxy S6, without a contract, costs double for the 32GB variant.
