The new Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S5 continues to be rolled out in the United States.
Verizon and Sprint customers were among the first users to get the Lollipop update. However, it is now time for T-Mobile customers as this carrier has begun rolling out the Android Lollipop update for Galaxy S5.
Unless you are using an AT&T Galaxy S5, you can access the Android 5.0 OTA update from anywhere around the world. There are reports that users of this Samsung flagship in the UK and other parts of Europe have already received this update, with the return of the mute mode back in the latest update.
Android 5.0 Lollipop for Galaxy S5 users in the United States
As noted above, T-Mobile users are the latest customers of Galaxy S5 to receive the new Android Lollipop OS OTA update. This update is about 950MB in size and as such, using a Wi-Fi connection is advisable. If you have not received any notification about the availability of the update just yet, you can check manually for the update by going to your phone’s Settings>About Phone>Software Update and see if your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update is ready.
Users of Verizon network can also get an update of Lollipop for their Galaxy S5 devices. Furthermore, there is nothing to worry about if you are using Sprint as this carrier has also availed updates for the Galaxy S5. You can similarly check for the updates via the phone’s settings just in case you haven’t received the update notification.
As it stands, the only carrier in the US that has yet to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 is AT&T. However, it is definitely not too far. Furthermore, don’t fret since this may be the carrier’s usual trend considering that it was again the last one to provide users with the update for the Android KitKat.
Android 5.0 Lollipop for Galaxy S5 users in Europe
Samsung Galaxy S5 users living in the UK recently received a patch that returned the mute mode feature which had been omitted due to the lack of the silent mode in Lollipop OS. However, this feature was first returned on the Galaxy Note Edge Android 5.0.1 update, something that has now been transferred to the Galaxy S5.
There are reports that this patch may be targeting Samsung models and it is not Google-based. This can be true since the Silent mode is set to be featured in the upcoming Android 5.1 Lollipop update. There is even further news of Samsung working on a new TouchWiz UI for the Android 5.0.2 update; however, this will not reach the Galaxy S5 any time soon.
Galaxy S5 Lollipop update across the globe
The global model of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A has yet to be updated with the latest version of Lollipop OS. However, there is news that Samsung will be rolling out the Android 5.0.1 for this international model rather than the debut version of the OS. The newer version of the Lollipop OS of course features some minor fixes to bugs, for instance, problems related to factory reset of the device as well as issues to do with video playback. This means that the international version of the Galaxy S5 will be better placed as far as bug-free performance is concerned.
