Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Nexus 7 – Bet Your Money on the Right Device

Choosing a tablet is a difficult task.

The smartphone arena is full of updated and upgraded rival products. A comparison review between Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would help you determine a better tablet to bet your money on.

Design

Not much is to be expected from Nexus 7 in terms of design features. The lower price offers basic functionality features. The basic appearance of Nexus 7 has a silver colored rim that goes around the perimeter. However, the rear comes with embossed Nexus logo on dark grey plastic color panel distinguishing it from other present tablets in the market.

Conversely, The Note 3 offers a compact body having slimmer screen bezels to accommodate a bigger display. The extensive use of plastic has been criticized many a times. Regardless, the brushed metal texture along with faux leather back panel is a treat. It offers a comfortable and strong grip.

Display

The Nexus 7’s 7-inch screen has IPS LCD technology. The WXGA screen offers lower resolution of 800×1280 p translating into decent 216-ppi density. It provides screen protection with scratch resistant coating. Nexus 7 offers a sharp display with top-quality color reproduction. The contrast might be lost at a few angles. One major problem is the screen reflects massively and has lower brightness levels offering poor screen viewing experience under sunlight.

Meanwhile, the Note 3 phablet offers 5.7-inch of Super AMOLED screen. It offers improved resolution of 1080×1920 p resulting into brilliant 386-ppi of pixel density. The screen offers branded Gorilla Glass coating.

OS

Nexus 7 offers Android OS v4.1 Jelly Bean, can be ugraded to improved v4.4.2 KitKat. It can be further upgraded to v5.0 Lollipop. It features Google’s Project Butter, which can customize all UI animations to function efficiently at 60 fps. Consequently, it offers a responsive and quick version of Android.

However, the Android OS v4.3 Jelly Bean runs the Note 3. V4.4.2 Kitkat can be installed as well, and also the recent v5.0 Lollipop. It combines with improved TouchWiz UI to provide the best.

Processor

Nexus 7 uses NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chipset along with Cortex A9 4-core processor which is clocked at 1.2 GigaHertz. A ULP GeForce GPU runs the tablet with RAM of 1GB for a great working experience.

An improved Snapdragon 800 / Exynos 5 Octa chipset accompanied with Krait 400 quad core 2.3GHz / 4-core 1.9GHz Cortex A15 and quad core 1.3GHz Cortex A7 processing units power the phablet. In addition, Adreno 330 / Mali-T628 GPU along with bigger RAM of 3GB ensures a flawless phablet experience.

Battery and Memory

Google Nexus 7 offers 3 internal memory models starting from 8 to 16 to 32GB. However, it lacks the external microSD card slot. Conversely, the Note 3 gives several internal storage capacity models starting from 16 to 32 to 64GB. As with other Samsung products, Note 3 offers external memory expandable to a maximum of 64GB.

Nexus 7 offers a non-removable Lithium ion battery with 4325 mAh power. Meanwhile, the Note 3 offers a good Li-Ion battery with 3200 mAh power.
