Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and LG G3, How Much Android 5.0 Lollipop Has Improved Battery Life

Without hesitation, 9 out of 10 Android users and smartphone users in general will name battery life as the area that needs biggest improvement.

Luckily, for the Android users, the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings a series of improvements, one of which is battery life. Recent tests have shown that the battery life of flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and the LG G3 has been vastly improved since the update.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Battery Improvements

The biggest improvement the Samsung Galaxy S5 got is in the endurance section. On standby mode, the phone lasts 11 more hours. Before the update, the Galaxy S5 lasted 72 hours. With the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the handset can now last for 83 hours. Talk time also improved, and the Galaxy S5 now offers 27 hours and 37 minutes of talk time, as opposed to 21 hours and 20 minutes before the update.
Web browsing has seen just a slight improvement and tests show that the handset lasts 3 more minutes with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

HTC One M8 Battery Improvements

While Samsung has seen huge improvements in the battery life, the improvements for the HTC One M8 has been little with the update. However, every little extra juice of battery life helps. In the endurance section, the One M8 lasts 77 hours with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Before that, the phone could survive 71 hours. Interestingly, talk time has been damaged with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Before the update, with a KitKat version, the HTC One M8 produced 20 hours and 1 minute of talk time. Now, with the update, the phone is down to 14 hours and 15 minutes. However, web browsing is vastly improved, and the HTC One M8 now offers 12 long hours and 29 minutes of web browsing, as opposed to 9 hours and 6 minutes before the update.

LG G3 Battery Improvements

Maybe the better word is battery issues. Since the update, according to the tests, the LG G3 offers a lot less battery life in every section. Starting from the endurance section, the G3 lasts 63 hours with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and 69 hours with the Android KitKat. Talk time has also been reduced, albeit slightly. Before the update, the phone delivered 25 hours and 54 minutes. With the Lollipop on, the LG G3 delivers 25 hours and 38 minutes. Web browsing is also down for 11 minutes, as the phone could offer 6 hours and 40 minutes with the Android KitKat and 6 hours and 29 minutes with the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
