LG G3 – How to Get Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Now?

LG G3 is among the first devices to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

However, it is yet to be revealed when exactly this update will reach everyone who uses this LG flagship. While the update is already available, some have yet to receive this update because their carriers have not availed the update for download.

LG G3 Android 5.0 OTA update in the US

Among the lucky users to get the update in the US are customers of Sprint. At the time of this writing, Sprint users can update their devices to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA. This update has taken ages to reach Sprint users considering the leaked images that showed these updates were to reach this carrier at the start of December 2014. However, now that it is here; you can update your device to the latest Android Lollipop OS. Users will enjoy a bunch of new functionalities that include support for Android TV, which comes in to replace Google TV, as well as better battery life.

Sprint is not the only US carrier that has already received the Lollipop update. Users of AT&T LG G3 models also received this update just recently. To check whether AT&T has availed your device’s updates, go to “Settings>About Phone>Update Center>Software update” and you’ll be notified if the updates are available.

There are however other carriers, which are yet to receive this update and they include Verizon and T-Mobile; all of which were expected before the end of January. However, now that both carriers have not released the updates, it remains to be a question of who beats the other in the race towards rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop for their LG G3 users?

While the rolling out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update for LG G3 began towards the end of last year in South Korea, it has taken it months to reach the US. However, other European countries have already received the update and at the moment LG G3 users are enjoying Lollipop OS on their devices. Such countries include Poland, UK and Germany.

After these initial rollouts in Asia and Europe, US’s AT&T and Sprint have received the updates and it is expected that the rest of the world will have this update by mid-March.
