GTA Online: Why Are All the Players Suddenly Leaving the Lobby?

We all know what it’s like to be in the lobby and then watch everybody leave out of the blue. We see the notifications appear in the bottom left corner of the screen, and then there’s you, all alone, there. And some events may end suddenly, since there aren’t enough players to continue. And when this particular thing happens, you probably think something wrong has happened. In fact, it’s only the poor internet connection that’s behind all the mess. But don’t worry, we’re here to tell you how to solve this problem.

So why do players get disconnected?

Poor internet connection. A player might be “out” for more than just a few seconds. If this happens, then all of the players will leave the lobby. And this is still one of the good scenarios – a bad one would be the player getting booted out themselves.

Can I fix it?

The good news is that there is a way to fix it. It seems that if other people are using the same Wi-Fi, this can slow down your internet speed. Here’s what to do:

  • Use a cable in order to connect to the internet
  • Change the Wi-Fi password – if you know there are others “bothering” you.
  • Switch the router mode to bridge mode
  • Disable the Wi-Fi

Be careful, the bright mode might be a bit complicated to set up, but it will prevent other players from leaving suddenly. But if you try this and you still have problems, make sure you contact Rockstar Support. They will help you with your troubles. Make sure you also check their website, as they have a list of preferred graphics settings.

Why is it such a bad thing to be in an empty lobby?

Sometimes players want to do activities that can be done in the public lobby. And sometimes, they can take advantage of glitches, and keep the public lobby to themselves. But this can be useful for some missions – especially the Special Cargo ones, where some players can actually bother you.
