Nokia X vs. Nokia XL – Which Nokia Smartphone Should You Choose and Why?


After the mixed response from the market on the Lumia and Asha series, Nokia has come up with several Nokia X platform phones.

As the Nokia X fared well in the market, the Nokia XL has been launched in the market with some enhanced features. Although people have the tendency to call the newly launched phone superior than its predecessor, can the Nokia XL actually beat the features of the Nokia X? Let’s check the features of the two phones, the Nokia X and the Nokia XL, to decide which one you should buy.


The Nokia X entry-level smartphone comes with the display screen of 4 inches, as the phone measures 115.5x63x10.4 mm. On the contrary, the Nokia XL has the dimensions of 141.4×77.7×10.9 mm and thus, offers a larger, 5-inch display screen. As the resolution of both the phones is 480×800 pixels, the Nokia X has the pixel density of 233 PPI in comparison to XL’s 187 PPI. Both the phones have IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors. Therefore, the display screens of the two phones are pretty similar, if their respective sizes are not taken into consideration.

The Nokia X as well as the Nokia XL, runs on the 1 GHz Dual core processor with the Adreno 203 graphics processor unit. While the Nokia X features 512 MB RAM, the Nokia XL comes loaded with relatively more, 768 MP RAM.

The rear camera of the Nokia XL is of 5 MP and it is accompanied by an LED Flash. It also features a 2 MP front camera for video calls and selfie. On the contrary, the Nokia X comes with a 3.15 MP rear camera only.

The Nokia X is powered by a 1500 mAh battery. On the other hand, the Nokia XL features relatively more powerful, 2000 mAh battery. However, there is barely any kind of improved battery life as the display screen of Nokia XL drains battery at a higher rate due to its larger screen size.

The Nokia X and the Nokia XL have tremendous numbers of common features. The major differences between the two devices are the screen size and the camera. Overall, it can be said that the Nokia XL is just the bigger-screened smartphone with better photography options. Still, choosing a Nokia X-platform phone between the two solely depends upon the individual preferences of a prospective buyer.
