Many video games come with a lot of challenges, and sometimes players may get overwhelmed. One of the most known complicated games is Dark Souls, for example. It will get the best of you, testing your limits and making you use skills that can only be achieved with years of gaming as experience. And not everybody has that. What if you’re a beginner, or simply a casual gamers who still want to play all of these hard titles without dying from 5 to 5 minutes?

Sony has the solution: a new patent has been published for a coaching system that is bound to assist players. This new patent will increase the skill of the user in many ways.

The patent was first filed on the 26th of June, 2020, but it wasn’t published until December last year. The patent includes “systems and methods for coaching a user for gameplay”.

So basically this system will help players gain gaming experience and will identify those players that fall below a certain skill threshold. After the user falls below the threshold, the system will come with a recording for a period of time. A UI will be placed over certain frames of the recording, with the role of explaining the gamer how to play the mission.

The recording and the UI overlay will “provide hints for increasing a skill of the user to be above the skill threshold.”

As of now, we don’t exactly know how all of this will happen, or when it will be implemented into the consoles, but it’s clear that Sony has been working on it for quite some time now. We will give you an update as soon as we have one.
