Microsoft Lumia 535 vs. Microsoft Lumia 625 – Which is the Best Low-End Smartphone?

Since Microsoft ventured into the smartphone niche in conjunction with Nokia, the first of its products was the Microsoft Lumia 535.

Despite the relatively low specs it comes with, this device is far better than its predecessor the Microsoft Lumia 635 in a number of ways.

Let’s take a closer look at the Lumia 535 and Lumia 625 smartphones.

Design and Display

Both models are almost identical when it comes to the shape where they take rectangular forms, curved edges and rounded corners. In addition, both the Lumia 535 and Lumia 625 come with plastic rear that can be changed with respect to colors from the classic black and white to others like blue, green, yellow, orange and gray.

The Lumia 625 is slightly thicker than its counterpart Lumia 535 with its dimensions of 133.3 by 72.5 by 9.2 mm, whereas the newer 535 measures 140.2 by 72.4 by 8.8mm. Furthermore, the older Lumia 625 weighs 159g while Lumia 535 weighs slightly lighter at 146g. The Microsoft Lumia 535 comes with support for dual SIM while the 625 only supports a single SIM.

The Lumia 535 has a larger screen of 5-inches that supports the IPS LCD technology, with a resolution of 960 by 540 pixels, delivering a pixel density of 220ppi. On the other hand, the Lumia 625 has a smaller screen size of 4.7-inches that also supports the IPS LCD technology with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels, delivering a pixel density of 199 ppi.

Performance

The low-end Windows Phone 8.1-based Lumia 625 comes with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8930 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics chip and a RAM of 512MB. This means that this phone is effective in playing simple games besides the usual calling and occasional taking of pictures. It also comes with an internal memory of 8GB that can be upgraded to 64GB using an SD card.

On the other hand, the Windows Phone 8.1-based Lumia 535 includes a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset that clocks a speed of 1.2GHz. The Cortex A7-based processor is supported by a weaker Adreno 302 GPU and a RAM capacity of 1GB. Just like its predecessor, the Lumia 535 comes with an internal memory of 8GB but this can be expanded to 128GB.

Both devices come with 5MP rear cameras with features like geo tagging, LED flash and autofocus.

Pricing

The Lumia 535 is much cheaper with its $140 price tag as compared to the $200 price tag of the Lumia 625.
