LG G4 vs. HTC One M9 – Quick Look at Specs and Performances

While many will compare the LG G4 to the impressive Samsung Galaxy S6, the reality is that HTC has an Android flagship on the market as well.

And the HTC One M9 is not one to be over looked. HTC’s phone is more than capable to compete with the G4 and the quick comparison shows how similar these phones are.

Design and Display

The design of the phones is very different with HTC going for an aluminum unibody design with big bezels for the HTC One M9. The build quality of the One M9 is exception, as HTC has made it two colors finish. The sleek and premium look of the M9 is only enhanced once you hold it in your hand. And the size of the display of just 5 inches makes it more compact than ever. On the other hand, LG goes for a leather back cover on the G4. The idea is to make the G4 more premium looking and the leather certainly makes the phone luxurious and stylish. The G4 is bigger, with display size at 5.5 inches. Another difference between the phones is the resolution. While HTC claims that full HD 1080p display is enough, more efficient and sharp enough for users, LG goes for a QHD 1440 x 2560 pixels display resolution.

Hardware and Operating System

Comparing the HTC One M9 and the LG G4 is actually a comparison between Qualcomm’s two biggest stars: the Snapdragon 810 and the Snapdragon 808. The HTC One M9 was the first flagship to use the octa core Snapdragon 810. However, there were rumors that the processor has heating issues, and LG opted for the six cores Snapdragon 808 instead. Given the fact that both phones have 3 GB of RAM, the main difference in speed and processing power will be decided by the chipset. As for the operating system, the G4 will run on the new Android 5.1 Lollipop, while for the time being, the One M9 runs on Android 5.0. Eventually, the M9 will be upgraded to 5.1, and that might happen before the G4 hits the market.

Camera

For sheer power, the HTC One M9 wins hands down. The phone has a 20-MP sensor on the back that produces much more details than the 16-MP sensor of the G4. However, the difference is in the way the camera operates. LG has optical image stabilization for the rear sensor and it makes all the difference in quality. The HTC One M9 produces average pictures on auto mode, and users must adjust many settings in order to get great pictures. With the G4, on the other hand, users can snap endlessly. On the front, however, it is all about the HTC One M9 and its ultrapixel sensor. The LG G4 has an 8-MP snapper up front, but it is still not good enough to compete with the ultrapixel technology, especially for low light pictures.

Battery

The One M9 is one of the few flagships that come close to the LG G4 in terms of battery capacity. Still, the G4 has a 3000 mAh battery that is arguably the most reliable on the market. Inside the HTC One M9 users will find a 2840 mAh battery, but it still comes second to the G4.
