Asus Zenfone 2 – The Review of Camera Modes, Camera Specs and Lens Quality

]]>

The Zenfone 2 is a phone by Asus and is the first to come with 4GB RAM and a 64bit chip (a 2.3 Ghz quad-core Intel Atom processor).

The Zenfone 2 has awesome specs and should ideally perform exceptionally well when running demanding apps. The responsiveness of the phone is fluid and snappy and it allows for flawless multitasking. The phone runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop, which adds to the fluidity of the phone.

Under The Hood

The Zenfone 2 comes with various hardware variations. Two versions are with a 1.8 GHz and 2 GB RAM, one with 720p and the other with 1080p. There is a larger version with a 2.3 GHz processor, 4GB RAM and a 1080p display. You also have the option of the 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB storage with microSD. The device is 4G enabled, with speeds of up to 150Mbps.

Camera

The Zenfone comes with a 13 MP rear camera featuring a 5 element auto focus lens with dual-color real tone flash. The front facing camera is a 5 MP lens that is great for capturing selfies. The PixelMaster technology allows you to capture HDR photos that are 400% brighter in dimly lit areas. If you are seeking fine-grained control over the camera’s settings, like shutter, ISO and speed, you get DSLR-like experience right on your phone, using the manual mode.

The shooting speed is impressive and the results look awesome on screen. Both the front and rear cameras have  f/2.0 aperture and has a two tone flash to make selfies look more natural. If you want to capture a group of friends or include the scenery in the selfie, the ZenUI Selfie Panaroma mode will help you capture panoramic selfies with a 140 degree field of view. The camera on the Zenfone 2 is very impressive for a device in its price range.

Battery

While the camera is all good, we also need to find out how long the battery can last. The Zenfone comes with a fast charging 3000 mAh battery that is non-removable. Since the phone charges up to 60% in 39 minutes, users can expect to spend less time waiting for the phone to charge and get more than a full day of use on a single charge.

Verdict

The official release date of the Zenfone 2 is yet to be announced. It is expected sometime in quarter 2 of 2015. The phone is priced at $199 for the 1.8 GHz/2 GB/720p version. This will be the cheapest of the lot. Asus claims that they are having a bit of a hard time pricing the other devices as they there is no reference point in the market. Even so, they will be looking to awe the market with incredibly low prices for premium features. If you are looking for a budget phone with great specs and excellent performance, you might want to get your hands on this phone once it launches.
