Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini Rumors – Can It Beat the iPhone 6?

]]>

It seems like Samsung will change its strategy for the Galaxy S6 mini.

Previous mini versions of the Galaxy S line were released a few months after the original. However, according to some reports, Samsung intends to release the Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini in March, in a move focused towards battling Apple’s iPhone 6 for the compact smartphone market. The iPhone 6 hit the ideal size at 4.7 inches for a compact flagship smartphone, and Samsung will use the same strategy. Here is what we know and expect from the Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini.

Design and Display

As previous mini versions, the Galaxy S6 Mini will have the same design as the Samsung Galaxy S6. Given the fact that the S6 is yet to be revealed, we do not know much about the design. However, it is certain that it will feature a metal unibody, which means no removable battery. The display, as we mentioned, is set to be at 4.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. That should translate to an impressive 468ppi. Given the fact the density of the iPhone 6 is just 301ppi, display resolution and sharpness could be a major selling point for the Samsung Galaxy S6 mini.

Hardware and Operating System

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S6 should feature an octa-core processor from Qualcomm, possibly the Snapdragon 810. However, it is still unknown, since Samsung has ditched the Snapdragon 810 for the original Galaxy S6, whether the company will use it for the mini version. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini should boast 2 GB of RAM, which will make the device extremely fast and up to challenge for every task. The phone will offer just 16 GB of built in storage, but there is support for a microSD card.
As for the operating system, the Galaxy S6 Mini will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Camera

Since Samsung will bump the camera for the Galaxy S6, it is only logical that the mini version gets a boost as well. The previous version, the Galaxy S5 mini featured an 8-MP sensor on the back. But the Galaxy S6 mini must compete with the iPhone 6, and Samsung intends to invest in quality. Therefore, at least a 13-MP sensor on the rear is expected, with a possibility of a 16-MP shooter. On the front, Samsung will use a 5-MP shooter, which has become the standard for selfie cameras.

Price

The expected price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini is set at $450, a lot less than the price tag of $600 for an iPhone 6. The price of the S6 mini could also drop fast to $350 in a few months after the release.
