Samsung’s current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 has a plethora of features.

What makes the smartphone different from its predecessor can be determined by putting both the smartphones against each other. Let us put the Galaxy S4 against the Galaxy S5 smartphone in terms of their performance, to determine the difference between these two highly successful smartphones from the Korean giant, Samsung Electronics.

Performance Compared

Processor

The Galaxy S4 smartphone comes equipped with aQualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, clocked at a speed of 1.9GHz. In comparison, the Galaxy S5 comes with a considerable power boost with the latest Snapdragon 801 processor, clocked at a speed of 2.5GHz. Considering the Sun Spider JavaScript test, the Galaxy S4 was able to complete the benchmark in 933ms when compared to the 408ms of the Galaxy S5 smartphone. It amounts to around 1.29 times quicker than its predecessor, the S4 smartphone. The S5 smartphone scores higher than the S4 smartphone in the Geek Bench synthetic benchmark. The S5 emerged with an overall score of 4015 in comparison to the 3227 of the S4 smartphone.

Graphics

In terms of graphics, the S4 smartphone comes equipped with a Qualcomm Adreno 320 graphic processor, enabling the smartphone to play any game presently provided by the Google Play Store. The S4 scores a healthy 11254 points in the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited graphic processor scale. The S4 was considered very fast a year ago. However, the smartphone now falls behind the present updated smartphones. In comparison, the S5 smartphone comprises of a newer and faster Adreno 330 graphic processor that scores around 18438 on the test.

Memory

In terms of memory, the Galaxy S4 comes with a RAM of 2GB. However, several phablets did not exceed the standard 2GB of RAM. The S5 also comes with similar RAM of 2GB as the company did not feel the need to increase the RAM.

Storage

The Galaxy S4 comes with a storage capacity of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants. In comparison, the S5 comes with 16GB and 32GB variants. However, the difference lies in the external memory enhancement slot. The S4 comes with an external memory card slot for memory enhancement up to 64GB in comparison to the 128GB memory enhancement slot of the S5 smartphone.

Battery

The Galaxy S4 comprises of a 2600 mAh battery that caters the user with 17 hours of talk time, as claimed by the company. However, the battery lasted around ten and a half hours on video rundown test. The Galaxy S5 comprises of a large 2800 mAh battery unit. However, the larger screen, additional features and a powerful processor would possibly drain the battery more. In fact, the GS5 comes with Ultra Power saving mode, which enables the battery to last a day without the need to charge the smartphone.
