HTC Desire 626 vs. HTC Desire 620 – Big Improvement for the Mid Range Smartphones

HTC is determined to attack the middle class series this year even more fiercely.

The company has its success in the high end range, but the middle class is one where HTC sells more handsets. Therefore, the company is looking to improve the smartphones from the middle range. The Desire 626 is a huge improvement when compared to its predecessor, the Desire 620. According to the early rumors, the following areas will see improvement.

Design and Display

This area is the one that will receive the least improvements. The display will stay the same 5 inches 720p display. When it comes to the design section, the only improvement might come in the form of more color options.

Hardware and Operating System

The biggest improvement comes in the hardware section. HTC will release two versions of the Desire 626, one of which will keep the quad core Snapdragon 410 processor and 1 GB RAM. The second, however, will feature an octa core processor from MediaTek, and double the RAM of its predecessor. The built in storage memory is also due to an expansion. The Desire 620 offered just 8 GB of built in space to users, but the Desire 626 will double that, and provide 16 GB storage. The Desire 626 will continue to support external memory via microSD card.

As for the OS, the Desire 626 will run on the Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, but should be upgraded to the Android 5.0 Lollipop version shortly.

Camera

The front facing, selfie camera of the Desire 626 stays the same 5-MP shooter. The rear camera, however, gets a boost and the power is increased to 13-MP.

Release Date and Price Rumors

The Desire 626 should be the device that HTC will unveil during the Mobile World Congress in March. Given the fact that HTC will announce its flagship, the HTC One M9 before the MWC, the company needs some assets for the event. The price of the handset is rumored to be in the $250 – $350 range.
