Amazon Fire Phone vs Apple iPhone 6 – Which Smartphone Has More Advantages?

Amazon released its Fire Phone this summer and it was a risky move, considering that the market is dominated by brands such as Apple and Samsung, but the device has some interesting features that aren’t found on other smartphones. For example, it brings the 3D-like images and the extensive item recognition. Its fierce rival, Apple’s iPhone 6 made a triumphant appearance in September, being sold like hot pancakes. Here’s a comparison between the two models.

Displays and dimensions

Both screens have the same size – 4.7inches with the same resolution, approximately. The Fire Phone uses an IPS LCD display with 720×1280 pixels and 312ppi, while the iPhone 6 supports 750×1334 pixels and 326ppi on its LED-backlit IPS LCD screen. However, you shouldn’t rush to catalog the Fire Phone a mid-range device without knowing that it has the Dynamic Perspective feature, a feature that obtains the 3D effect with moving images, when you tilt the device. But the Fire Phone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner like the iPhone 6, and it’s much ticker at 8.9mm, featuring a plastic casing with a rectangular form and rounded corners. The device weights 160grams, with over 30grams more than the iPhone 6, which has an aluminum construction and a thickness of 6.9mm.

Operating Systems

The Fire Phone runs on Amazon’s Fire OS v3.5 (which is Android-based OS), and meanwhile the 3.5.1 update was released. This means that you don’t have access to many Google service such as Google Maps, Google Play Store or Gmail. To download applications, the users have to visit the Amazon Appstore. With the Firefly button, which is another innovative feature, you can scan over 100 million items (movies, TV episodes, books, video games etc.) and add them to your Amazon Wish List, and buy them later. The other interesting feature is the Mayday button, with which you can benefit from live customer support.

The iOS 8 brings new apps such as Health, it has more keyboard options and you can now add audio to text messages.

Processors and Memories

The Fire Phone is powered by a fast quad core Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.2GHz, which is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and uses graphics from Adreno 330. The phone houses 2GB of RAM and two variants of internal storage: 16 and 32GB, which won’t allow you to increase the capacity. As for the iPhone 6, the phone runs on the new A8 chipset with 64bit architecture (Dual core 1.4GHz Cyclone processor with PowerVR GX6450 graphics) and still has 1GB of RAM, which might seem too low. The phone is available in three limited internal memories with capacities of 16, 64 and 128GB.

Cameras

The Fire Phone has a rear camera of 13MP and the iPhone 6 is stuck with 8MP, but its camera is still better because it has nice features such as dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, HDR, simultaneous HD video and image recording, 1/3” sensor size, 1.5µm pixel size etc. The Fire Phone comes with optical image stabilization, LED flash, autofocus, HDR and supports video capture at 1080p@30fps with optical stabilization. Its front camera is 2.1MP, while the iPhone 6 sports a 1.2MP secondary snapper.

Batteries

The iPhone 6 has a smaller battery of 1810 mAh which provides 14 hours of talking time, with 8 hours less than Fire Phone’s 2400 mAh battery.
