The New Star Wars 7 – The Force Awakens

Star Wars Saga concluded back in 2005. After that, Twentieth Century Fox and Lucasfilm released the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. This not only tied the story to the first series but also finalized the prequels trilogy.

Disney then came along and brokered a billion dollar deal, which saw it buy Lucasfilm. Along with this, came a new Star Wars trilogy which has kept the epic story going to date.

The Film Title

Over several years, the Star Wars Saga was known as “Star Wars Episode VII”. Those days are long gone, and now the movie will forever be known as the “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens”. While many fans might not have liked the idea of awakening a force, it makes sense since it is the awakening of Star Wars, the franchise.

Production

Production of this Star Wars episode took almost 6 months and is now over and done with. Shooting was done in different locations including Skellig Michael (Irish Island), Abu Dhabi and Pinewood Studios (in England). While there were some hiccups here and there during production, everything got resolved, and there was no delay in the release date.

The Screenplay

Michael Arndt, an award-winning screenwriter, was among the first people to get hired in this Star Wars Episode. Unfortunately, his involvement abruptly ended just before production started. J.J Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan were then given the script. While there are no official releases on the plot details, insiders say that the protagonist will be a young female and that a lightsaber and Luke’s hand will spark the plot.

Some of the Cast

Luke Skywalker: He will be played by Mark Hamill. It is, however, still unknown as to which role he will have in the plot or the length of his part. Some rumors have it that central characters will be featured searching for Luke. This goes to suggest that Jedi will have an important role but may get little screen time.

Princess Leia: Carrie Fisher returns for this role, but there is not much known about her role in the plot. While there have been rumors about Han and Luke’s roles, Princess Leia’s role remains unknown. Did Princess Leia follow in her brother’s and father’s steps to become a Jedi? Did she get married to Han?

Han Solo: According to the insiders, Han and Chewbacca will be assisting the lead characters in the search for Luke. While fans expect that he will go back to the Millennium Flacon, it has been rumored that it will not be the engine he is flying when the Episode starts.

Chewbacca: Once you saw that Han Solo had made a comeback to the episode, it was obvious that Chewbacca would not be left out. He will still be in a Wookie costume thus keeping alive the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens original trilogy spirit.

R2-D2 and C-3PO: R2-D2 also makes a comeback, which was an obvious guess since he is the only character that has been in all Star Wars movies. Kenny Baker will be the person inside the droid. C-3PO will also return with Anthony Daniels playing the role of this protocol droid.
