WhatsApp Free Voice Calls On iPhones After Enabling The Feature

Towards the end of April, WhatsApp released version 2.12.1 with Voice Calling, but this feature wasn’t automatically enabled, as on the Android version, and many iPhone owners didn’t have patience to wait until they were notified when the feature is available for their devices. Voice Calling started to roll out, but not all users received it and they want to know if there is a way to enable it. It’s possible, but they need to jailbreak their iPhones.

After months of frustrations, the iOS users’ waiting ended, because WhatsApp finally managed to bring the Voice Calling feature to their devices, but it was rolled out in phases and there are still a lot of people that haven’t received it yet. This time, WhatsApp’s developers didn’t repeat the steps as with the Android version, meaning that the users were no longer invited to join the beta testing program, where only a few lucky people would have had access. At first, the voice calling feature on the Android version was enabled after the users were called by their contacts, and they passed it on to other friends. Unfortunately, the iOS users have no other option but to wait until the feature will be enabled on their iPhones, even if they already upgraded to the latest version, which currently is 2.12.2 and which can be downloaded from iTunes.

To speed up the process of activating the Call button, the users must jailbreak their iPhones, which must run on iOS 8.1.2 (later versions haven’t been jailbroken yet). After jailbreaking the device using TaiG tools, go to the Cydia store and get the latest beta release of WhatsApp. After installing it, use your phone number to get verified and ask a friend to give you a call. After ending the call, restart your phone and you’ll notice that the Calls button is active.

However, if you jailbreak your iPhone, you will lose its warranty and if you damage the device, to repair it, you will have to pay with money from your own pocket.
