Viber Download With HD Quality For Chromebooks

Google wants its Chrome OS to be targeted by developers, who can create applications especially for this platform, while other applications will have versions supporting Chromebooks. One of the applications that will run on Chrome OS is Viber, the instant messenger that offers free voice calls.

Viber’s developers decided to release a compatible version for Chromebooks, allowing the users to send messages, photos and to make voice calls to other Viber users. This version was released a few days ago, and it can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store. Viber has 516 million active users and many of them are making free phone calls to their friends, living in other countries, with HD quality. The voice calls don’t eat as much mobile data as Skype, but if the users want to call mobile and landline numbers, they have the Viber Out service which charges them per minute and depending on the network and country of origin.

Viber came in December 2010 with a lot of features. The users can create group messages and invite up to 100 participants, they can follow public chats and read conversations in real time, “like” comments and share multimedia content, they can share their location, use stickers and emoticons, download more stickers from the Sticker Market, play games with Viber characters (Violet and Legcat), and even if the user is offline, he/she will continue to receive messages and they’ll be notified if someone called in the meantime.

Chromebooks are laptops created by Google in partnership with various important manufacturers and they run on Chrome OS. Acer and Samsung were the first companies to build a Chromebook, and they released them in June 2011. Two years later, Lenovo, HP and even Google entered the market, while at the end of 2013, Samsung released a laptop for the Indian market, which was powered by the company’s Exynos 5 Dual core processor. LG created a desktop version called Chromebox, which was launched in January 2014, and last year, Dell, Asus and Toshiba were convinced to join the team.

The most expensive Chromebook (Chromebook Pixel) had an exorbitant price of $1299, but it came with 100GB-1.09TB of Google Drive cloud storage. Normally, these Chromebooks cost between 200 and 300 dollars, but soon, Google will introduce the $149 Hisense Chromebook and the Haier Chromebook 11, which will be the cheapest laptops.
