Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge vs. Samsung Galaxy S6 – The Best Samsung Design Ever?

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge started selling a few days ago and even though Samsung has placed some hefty price tags on these flagship smartphones, some of the features and specs that the phones come with are definitely worth the credit.

These new Samsung flagships have come in at a time when Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models were doing extremely fine in the smartphone market, especially the latter device, which is Apple’s first of its kind. Users of Samsung have been complaining about the body material of their flagships. This is so because previous Samsung flagships that include the Galaxy S5 were mostly covered in plastic. This made these phones look cheap when compared to their Apple and HTC counterparts.

Design changes

This is no longer the case with the current Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, as this Korean company seems to have given this a thought by replacing the leather back with a metallic glass, which makes these two phones feel extremely premium as well as more robust. The latest Samsung Pay feature has also been shipped with the two smartphones and with this feature, Samsung is aiming to compete with Cupertino’s Apple Pay. The two phones will not come in at the same price; the Galaxy S6 Edge will slightly be costlier than the Galaxy S6.

Improved display

The Galaxy S6 comes with a 2K screen size of 5.1 inches with QHD Super AMOLED technology and an amazing resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels. As a result, the screen has a pixel density of 572 pixels per inch. These are the same specs you get on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, however, the S6 Edge adds in a little zest to the display by offering users a curved glass display.

Hardware and software

You will get some of the best performances from both the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6. There is a 14nm octa-core Qualcomm-based Snapdragon 810 processor, which is actually the latest chipset from this company. To improve the efficiency of the phones, the company took care of its own SoC 14 nm and to better things up, both phones have a RAM of 3GB.

Enhanced camera features

Both devices come with the same camera specs where there is a rear camera of 16MP while the front snapper has a lens of 5MP, which is good enough for Skype and Viber videos as well as selfies. You will also find an f/1.9 lens, which is faster than the previous version despite the fact that the sensor is still the same. You can be sure of much more better pictures even in poor lighting conditions.

Bottom line

Samsung seems to have borrowed a leaf from Apple and HTC with its new designs. You will no longer see the usual plastic build like before; instead, Samsung has now gone the metal and glass way, making the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge some of the best-looking smartphones there are today.
