Apple Tablet Announcement live On Wednesday 10 a.m

Apple Tablet announcement live, Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Apple is expected to take the wraps off its much anticipated tablet device.

The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts was buzzing Tuesday afternoon with black-shirted Apple staffers hauling in electronics, heavy-set security  guys guarding the perimeter, TV satellite trucks jockeying for position and workers on a crane plastering the entrance way with the event's signature paint-spattered logo.

Shortly after 1 p.m. ET today, Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs is expected to step onto a stage in San Francisco and lift the veil on what may be the most anticipated tech product of the year.

Famous for its culture of secrecy about new gadgets, Apple has given few hints about what it will announce. Invitations to the event merely read, "Come see our latest creation."

But an escalating stream of rumors and leaks, mostly from Apple's looser-lipped partners, suggest the Cupertino, California-based company will introduce a touch-screen "tablet" or "slate" computer — sort of a missing link between a laptop and a smartphone.

We know the tablet is definitely coming tomorrow, thanks to McGraw-Hill CEO Terry McGraw, who said today that the device will run the iPhone operating system and will support eBooks.

Now the question is how exactly Apple pulls this off and how they convince us why we need this thing in the first place. Books, magazines, newspapers, TV, games, the tablet is supposed to improve them all somehow.
