Vice President’s Mother Jean Biden dies at 92

Vice President Joe Biden's mother, Jean Finnegan Biden, died today in Wilmington Delaware at the age of 92. She was surrounded by family members.

“Remember Joey,” she would say, as Biden recalled in his autobiography. “You’re a Biden. Nobody is better than you. You’re not better than anybody else, but nobody is better than you.”

Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Biden, the diminutive but strong-willed matriarch of the Biden family, died today after a brief illness. She was 92.

In a statement, Joe said that his mother passed away at home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“She was the center of our family and taught all of her children that family is to be treasured, loyalty is paramount and faith will guide you through the tough times,” the vice president said in a statement. “She believed in us, and because of that, we believed in ourselves.”
