FirstEnergy buying Allegheny Energy for $4.7 Billion

FirstEnergy Corp., the owner of utilities in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, agreed to buy Allegheny Energy Inc. for $4.7 billion in stock to boost its generation capacity, add customers and meet environmental requirements. A hostage situation in downtown Kearney has ended peacefully. The Kearney Hub is reporting the gunman surrended shortly before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.
